HOW ABP STARTED:

I grew up helping my dad, who was a builder and master carpenter, after school and in the summers. I like working with wood and it’s a stress reliever after a long day of sitting in an office.

How this whole ABP thing got started… In the fall of 2012 my mother-in-law, Dolores, had a dilapidated barn that she needed removed. I checked it out and took some of the wood home with me and started messing with it in the garage. I made a sofa table, some trays and converted an old sewing machine into an end table.

Friends and family LOVED the stuff and asked me to make them things for their home or for gifts. Before I knew it I couldn’t keep up with the demand. I had my boys, Ben and Andrew, help me out part time for a while and it has grown into full time work for them. That’s where the name ABPWorks comes from Andrew Ben Peterson + Works. They had that name as a little lawn mowing business when they were kids. 

The boys bring different ideas and products to the table. Right now, they are having fun making raw wood tables and benches.

We love that there is such a deep history to the barns and we are passionate about "up-cycling"  by making one of a kind items from the barns. The barn wood is absolutely beautiful.  It's sad that small farmers and farmsteads are becoming a thing of the past but we're excited to preserve a little piece of it with our products
